Intentional Pause
“Between stimulus and response there is a space. In that space is our power to choose our response. In our response lies our growth and our freedom.”
- Viktor E. Frankl
Viktor Frankl wrote that everything can be taken from a person but one thing, the last of the human freedoms: to choose one's attitude in any given set of circumstances.
Most of us live faster than that freedom. Something happens, and we have already reacted before we find the space where the freedom actually lives.
The Intentional Pause is a free live evening to find that space and practice standing in it. Sign up, experience the pause, and discover why you will want to keep pausing with us, every week and beyond.

No cost. No commitment. Come once and see for yourself. This evening is yours to keep either way.
A full evening, not a preview.
This is a real teaching and a real practice, complete in itself. You will leave Wednesday night having learned something and having practiced it. Near the end, Marion will also share how to keep this going, through the Weekly Pause and through Many Parts, One Body, for anyone who wants to.
We will spend the evening naming the space between what happens to us and how we meet it, the space Frankl called the last human freedom, and practicing what it feels like to actually stand there.
The space closes before we notice it was there.
Something happens. Someone says the thing, the reminder appears, the old feeling rises, and we have responded before we have come home to ourselves at all.
It is not that the freedom is gone. It is that we have lost the habit of stepping into the space where it lives, the small pause between what happens and how we meet it.
This is not about having more free time. It is about having a place to return to, whatever your week looks like: parent, professional, student, retiree, caregiver, anyone whose days run more on reaction than intention. If you need to pause, this evening is for you.
What actually happens Wednesday night
Two hours, live, online. Marion will teach and lead a guided practice, so you are not just hearing about the pause, you are experiencing it. Come as you are. You do not need to prepare anything, and you do not need any background in Internal Family Systems, meditation, or prayer.
Where this can lead
This evening teaches a complete practice you can use starting that night. It is also where Marion introduces what comes next for anyone who wants to keep going.
The Weekly Pause is a weekly return to this same space, held inside our community, Embodied Catholic Circles, beginning Monday, September 14th. Many Parts, One Body is a small, accompanied group for going deeper into your own inner system this fall, in the light of faith.
Marion will walk you through both at the end of the evening. Nothing is decided that night. You are welcome to simply take the practice and go, or to keep going with us.

The Intentional Pause is taught by Marion Bean Moreland, a clinical therapist and IFS Clinical Supervisor whose work integrates Internal Family Systems with Catholic interior life. She founded Trinitas for people who spend their days holding space for others and rarely have anywhere to set it down themselves.
